Wendy Attwood is the principal consultant for WAEOSS. Through WAEOSS, we have access to other specialised fields of expertise.
Wendy herself is a Senior HSE Consultant with more than 33 years’ experience in the management of safety, health, training and environment. She has extensive experience in surface mining, construction, infrastructure projects, manufacturing, water services and public administration. Wendy was a Worksafe Inspector for 10 years with both a legislative compliance role and an industry assistance role that helped industry meet its OSH obligations. Her field of expertise extends to auditing, development of safety systems, development of safety management plans, training, incident / accident investigations and the provision of advice for the managing of safety on sites.
In addition, she has acted as an expert by providing a number of expert opinions in legal matters and remains one of WA’s leading safety consultants.
Emergency Risk Management (ERM)
WAEOSS provides access to experts regarded as leaders in Emergency Risk Management (ERM) across Australia. With backgrounds spanning local government, industry, academia, and emergency services, these professionals bring decades of experience in risk mitigation, response coordination, community preparedness, and disaster recovery.
Their experience includes speaking at national and international conferences, delivering training programs, and contributing to strategic emergency planning at all levels. Many have held senior roles within emergency services and have worked extensively with rural and remote communities.
Areas of experience include:

- Creation of business continuity and water quality incident plans
- Delivery of AIIMS training to local government agencies
- Emergency evacuation planning for rural and regional areas

Mining Equipment Safety and Health
WAEOSS provides access to highly experienced and accredited Trainer Assessors in mining equipment safety and operations. These professionals are certified under the latest RII codes to train and assess across a broad range of equipment, including: loaders, dozers, graders, excavators, face shovels, IT loaders, telescopic handlers, blast hole drills, watercarts, haul trucks (articulated and rigid), forklifts, cranes, gantry cranes, container side lifters, and tyre servicing technologies.
Experts have conducted comprehensive mine safety audits, operator training, and equipment assessments, and have developed nationally accredited training packages, including site inductions, isolation procedures, and confined space entry.
They can also be engaged for temporary roles on a subcontract basis to support operational needs and have experience providing expert opinion in legal matters.
Clinical nursing & Aged Care
WAEOSS offers access to experienced clinical nursing and aged care experts with strong backgrounds in policy development, change management, and workforce education. Many have served as Aged Care Quality Assessors and have led training programs for registered and enrolled nurses across residential and community settings.
Expert witness engagements have included matters relating to aged care practices and nursing care in hospital environments.
These professionals have worked across diverse clinical settings, including medical, surgical, operating theatres, aged care, and critical care, and often hold academic teaching roles.
Areas of interest include safety and quality in aged care, occupational safety and health, nursing education, and psycho-social impacts of clinical care.
